What Real Customers are Saying:
“Tracey” says:
“I love the compact size of this sleeping pad. I've owned several over the years, but none are quite so portable. Although it is less plush than my larger, thicker inflatables, it's perfect for short wilderness and backcountry camping trips, where you need to keep your overall weight down. I was also delighted to discover that it's small enough to fit into one of the mesh side pockets on my backpack, so it neither takes up interior space nor needs to be protected because it has its own waterproof pouch. Overall, it's a simple, compact sleeping pad, great for rustic camping overnights. Recommend!”
“TheMox” says:
“Given the good price (compared to more well-known brands of backpacking sleeping pads), this one is worth a try. Do note that this seems to be designed for ultralight use — i.e. for carrying in your backpack when camping and sleeping. In other words, it won't be as thick as you likely expected to be if you haven't bought one designed for backpacking. But if you are comparing this to other backpack-specific sleeping pads, you'll find that this one is just about as comfortable. When I sleep on my back on this, it does the job well of eliminating hotspots: pressure points against the ground. When fully inflated, it also does the fairly decent job of supporting side sleeping positions, although the shoulder does take a lot of the weight against the ground — not unlike other backpacking sleeping pads though, not in a substandard way.
I thought the design to be rather clever with the built-in air pump. Considering it includes that and still is under 2 pounds total, it's impressive. However, the act of trying to inflate it (see video) proved to be far more time-consuming than just picking it up and blowing in the valve. But this is the first time I have used a "sponge" type of valve so I cannot compare it to any others. I just know that I lost patience with the number of tiny puffs of each step that I gave up and just blew in it. Which is fine: backpacking camping pads don't take much air to fill, and therefore don't get you winded.
I would call the description to be a slight exaggeration where it says it's the size of a water bottle. It seemed a little larger than even a 32 ounce water bottle. But not by much.
Also, if you want to shave a little weight because you are in fact using this for backpacking, you can skip the cover and just use the elastic band that it comes with: sort of like a fat rubber band that you can put around it after rolling it up. That will shave a couple of ounces.
The most important thing is how well will it hold up? That I cannot yet answer. I'll take it with me on the next camping trip and then update if it doesn't hold up.”
